Yummy Chocolate Flapjacks

This is something I haven’t covered on littlemissminor yet. I have a secret love for baking. When I get some spare time, this is what I do. I love making flapjacks, I can remember the first time I made them, when I was in a cooking class at school, ever since then, it’s a recipie that has stuck with me. They are easy to make, so if your a beginner, I think this is a good recipie to start off with. They go down an absolute treat in my house, I made 16 squares and only got 1. These don’t have to be cut in squares they can be cut in wedges too. You also don’t have to make your flapjacks chocolate, if you want plain ones, just leave the chocolate out, or you can add your own take on them. You can do this by adding apple, banana, peanut butter, apricot, honey etc. These are really good just as a sweet treat but you could make these for parties or if you have friends coming over, it’s really up to you.

You Will Need:

– 350g butter

– 3tbsp golden syrup

– 350g light brown sugar

– 450g porridge oats

– 30g cocoa powder

1) Preheat the oven to 150 degrees/gas mark 2. Grease your baking tin or dish with a little bit of butter. (This is extra butter added on to the 350g)

2) Place a saucepan over medium heat and put in the butter, golden syrup and sugar. Stir until the butter has melted but be careful not to burn the mixture.

3) Remove the saucepan from the heat and put the oats and cocoa into the butter mixture and mix well.

4) Pour the mixture into your baking tin or dish, spreading it evenly, and press down making the top smooth. Put into the oven and leave it to bake for 18-20 mins, until it’s cooked in the centre. Don’t forget to leave them cool in your tin or dish, otherwise your going to have trouble getting them out straight away.

5) Most importantly enjoy!

      1. I’ve tried a couple of times, it’s not too hard. You just have to make sure to use full fat cream cheese, and it’s usually better if it’s a baked recipe as opposed to non-bake.
