I’m currently having mixed views about doing film reviews on my blog, I’m not sure whether I’m going to do them anymore or not, however I think this is something I need to think more on. I saw Inside Out the same day I saw Legend, because we had these vouchers for two tickets for ten pound and they needed using up, so we decided to go twice in one day haha!
Inside Out is about a girl called Riley who’s father starts a new job in San Francisco and has to leave the Midwest where she grew up. Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness are Riley’s emoticons. They live in headquarters inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise Riley on everyday life. Riley and her emoticons are struggling to adjust to a new life in San Francisco. Joy the most important emoticon, tries to be positive about everything, but the other emoticons have different opinions. Will they be able to come to terms with a new city, house and school?
What I like about this film is how funny it is, you can just imagine all these emoticons inside your head, trying to guide you on your emoticons. I think this is how I will picture my mind from now on. I also like how imaginative the concept is, I’m surprised this hasn’t been done sooner, but then again would the animation be as good as it is now, five years ago? I definitely think a sequel is on the cards.
There wasn’t a lot I didn’t like about the film. Some of it was really sad to watch, not going to tell you what, as I don’t want to spoil it but think of it like the toys from Toy Story 3 holding hands, or Olaf melting in Frozen. It was that kind of sad. Other than that I think maybe a good soundtrack would of topped it off, but nothing really needs to be changed, its just a really well thought out film.
My Film Rating: 9/10
