These “Listening Ears” are coming around very quickly, and I must admit it was difficult deciding what songs to include this time. I’ve been listening to a lot of the same music recently and I’ve already included songs by the artist in my previous posts and I gathered that would become very boring for this post, so it’s meant I’ve needed to think out of the box. My song recommendations are quite random anyway, but I feel like this selection is even more random than usual! We have a mixture of different tempos and different styles of music, and we have fun and playful and some meaningful and sad. Hopefully, there is at least one song that you will discover you like in my selection. As always, I link to the titles, the YouTube videos where you can give the songs a listen. I always love being introduced to new music, so if you have got something that you think I should listen to, let me know in the comments and who knows, it might appear in the next “My Listening Ear.”
Reulle has one of the most stunning, haunting, soft voices, and she hits every note so beautifully and so full of emotion. Every time I hear one of her songs, I instantly fall in love with them. Her music I feel could be a soundtrack to me life and I’m sure many others would feel the same. It’s no wonder that her music is featured on our screens so much. This song, in particular, hits you right in the feels and has so much meaning behind it. Reulle doesn’t really need much of a backing track behind her as her vocals carry her songs throughout, and this one is no exception. She stands out miles in front of some other female vocalists, and that’s why she has this huge following for so long. Definitely go and check out some of her other songs.
BLACKPINK’S songs are always really fun and quirky. One thing that I have always loved and admired about the group is their dance choreography. I just love all the different transitions, and they are strong dancers and very talented. I can’t believe how old this song is, but it’s really catchy, and even if it was released today, it would still fit in well with the current music.
Gavin DeGraw – She Sets The City On Fire
Gavin has a very similar voice to Adam Levine from Maroon 5, so if you’re a fan of his voice, then you will be sure to love Gavin’s. His sounds are great, and a voice that is easy and pleasant to listen to. Again, this song is catchy and upbeat, and I feel like it’s one of those that you can listen to, and it instantly puts a smile on your face. I know a lot of people have said at the time it is different to the usual style he stuck to, but as someone who doesn’t know his other music, I would say his voice suits this style but I should check out his other stuff.
Bea and her Business – Safety Net
This song reminds me of another song, and I can’t put my finger on it. It actually came up on my recommendations, and I’m glad it did. I love the energy throughout, and it’s quite a quirky tune. The melody is really catchy, and the vocals are great. If you give it a listen, be warned it’s an infectious song!
Jax Jones, Bebe Rexha – Harder
We’re not quite there yet, but I feel like this is a summer tune. It is an oldie but goldie. However, I still love it, and it’s so chilled. Bebe Rexha has an amazing voice too, what’s not to love about this song!
TONES AND I – Lose Someone Like Me
Do not listen to this song if you are already in a sad mood because it could have the ability to make you cry. It really does get your heart. The song is so powerful, especially if you really listen to the lyrics. It’s beautiful. I love how you can hear such raw emotion in her voice and an amazing voice that is. You believe every word she is singing and I’d say it’s one of those songs that gives you goosebumps when you listen to it first time at least, as it has so many elements to the story it’s telling, you can’t help but fall in love with it as I feel like it takes you to a place in your mind.
Sam Tinnesz – Play With Fire feat. Yacht Money
Changing up the tempo again, we have “Play With Fire.” I feel like this is one people have probably heard without realising as it has been featured on a lot of tv shows before, especially reality and game shows. You may also have heard it from a dance cover. It does give off a great background for a villain in a story. I do love this one. Every time I hear it, I still think of it as a true masterpiece. I love the bass in the background, again another song where the vocals are great, and I just feel like it’s a song that is massively underrated!
There is just something about James Arthur that makes him so likeable as a person, and I’ve loved his voice for as long as I can remember. I like the rough tone. However, at the same time, it’s so smooth as he goes through the different ranges in his vocals. This is probably my favourite song of his as I love the emotion throughout, and it shows his voice off perfectly. The lyrics are sad, talking about feelings of worthlessness and how you want that one person to say something to help you not feel that way. I think a lot of James Arthur’s songs are quite sad, actually. I think he sings a lot about personal experiences and struggles, though, and that’s what makes his songs so relatable and likeable.
Who’s your favourite artist or band?
