I recently went to see Guardians Of the Galaxy directed by James Gunn. This is another Marvel film, however different in many ways.

When Peter Quill steals a mystery orb, he finds himself the object of a bounty hunt by the evil Ronan, who wants the orb. To help him conquer Ronan he meets along the way, Rocket the raccoon, Groot, Gamora and Drax. However when Quill discovers the true power and mystery behind the orb, it is up to him to do what he thinks is right, even if that means the galaxy’s fate is in his hands.

Bradley Cooper who plays (Rocket the raccoon),  Vin Diesel (Groot), and Chris Pratt (Peter Quill), are the actors who stood out to me. Bradley and Vin both played rather funny roles, the fact that you have a raccoon super hero itself is funny, but they really got into character with this one. I think this film has done Chris Pratt some justice, in a sense, as it’s showed of how versatile of an actor he is, not only that but showed of his dance moves. (Look out for them!) I reckon this has maybe expanded his acting career, and I shall look forward to some future films he does, hopefully a comedy.

I really liked the adventurous choice of character they have chosen for this film, very creative. I loved the costume and make-up, it’s very fun, colourful and different compared to other films. However here comes the bad points, I suggest you scroll down now, if you don’t want to read the rotten eggs of the film.

Firstly, the film is longer than what it needs to be. There is a lot of dragged out scenes. Secondly, I thought the storyline was not bad, however in places it was a bit flat. Thirdly, linked with the storyline, I didn’t feel very excited, there was nothing to keep me on the edge of my seat, which is disappointing as I love  marvel films, and they are all about action, this just didn’t have enough, or wasn’t exciting enough. Rotten eggs have stopped being thrown.

So there you have it, the ins and outs of what I feel about this movie. It will be interesting to see what other marvel fans think of it, bearing in mind, The Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 has been confirmed  for 2017. Fair play to them though for trying something different, this one just wasn’t for me.

Rating: 6/10
