Most of us have a tv and I’m sure most of us watch tv everyday. It’s a great past time and gives us something to discuss. There are so many different platforms to watch tv on nowadays that it can be hard to keep up! If you’re like me and binge watch everything, I thought it would be a good idea to share what I’ve been watching with you all, and you can share back in the comment section. I have found it’s been a slow month for tv if I’m honest, as this is usually a good time for new tv dramas but lets not be negative as there is still a lot of worthwhile things to watch. If you’re a sport fan and love the F1 like me, then we had a good month full of races, which provided the weekend entertainment. I was going to include F1 on my list, however I think I may do a separate post for this as there is a lot to say on the sport. It’s not just about series and sport though, Netflix have also brought out a few new films and documentaries as well which deserve a mention. So if you’re in need of some new shows/films to watch then keep reading below and hopefully you will find something new so, in no particular order we start with..
- Boiling Point

I really liked the concept of this drama, as I don’t think I have seen a drama set in a kitchen of a busy restaurant before. There is a short film with Steven Graham in which I haven’t seen, but I would recommend watching it, as I feel like this would give you more of a background to the series and why things are the way they are, however it’s not the whole storyline, so I don’t feel like I completely missed out by not watching this. I’ll be honest the camera work, production and acting were so well done, because I felt stressed for the staff in the kitchen. In fact, this made me realize even thought its just a show, how hard it must be to have to work in a kitchen, as it seems pretty chaotic and high pressured! I liked how this gave you the backgrounds of the individual stuff members and that they all had their own mini storylines. It is a short series, however excuse the pun, but I feel like there will be more and they were just “testing the waters” to see how well this would take off, as it feels like it’s been left quite open, that it could carry on. It’s well executed and very believable from start to finish!
2. Big Brother

I told myself that I wouldn’t watch it but at the time I didn’t have anything to watch so I put it on. I actually hated the launch show and the presenting I find awful as I don’t think they work well together, but there is some positives. I think there is a good group of people in there at the moment, and a lot of different characters. My favourite housemates I would have to say is Yimrun and Olivia. Yimrun is so genuine and Olivia is entertaining but also speaks a lot of truth and isn’t afraid to speak up. My least favourite at the moment is Tom, I don’t feel that he really adds anything to the house and he also needs to lighten up a bit. I feel like the evictions so far have been the right choices as some of these really played up to the cameras. I think the shopping tasks have been really good. I feel like they have pushed the limits of what they can do with the house and have also thought outside of the box compared to previous series on other channels. I also like the fact that they have cut out the eviction interviews on the main show and done that as a seperate thing as personally, I’m not bothered about watching them haha.
3. The Ex-Wife

(Image taken from Amazon)
Ooooo this is a good one! The ex-wife is currently being shown on a few different platforms including Paramount, Amazon and My 5. I think it originally came out last year but it’s a four part series and from the first episode I was immediately hooked to the storyline. I think the length of the series is perfect as its not dragged out, its very straight to the point. I still have another episode left to watch but there is a different twist and turn every episode. It’s a very dark plot and come episode three it probably gets worse, which probably sounds weird but I liked that as it kind of broke a few boundaries. It’s not a plot I have come across before so even though I should of seen the twists coming, I didn’t, which has made it more enjoyable to watch, as I’m someone who has seen that many dramas, I can usually predict what’s coming. The acting is very good, the characters were very believable and I think when you don’t like a character, you know the actor is playing their part well. If you love a good drama, you definitely won’t be disappointed with this one, it’s well worth a watch!
4. Wilderness

When I saw that one of my favourite actress’s Jenna Coleman was in another drama, I couldn’t not watch this. Although I love Jenna, it also had another very good actress Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars) and actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting Of Hill House) in. I tried so hard not to binge watch this but I had no willpower and was soon defeated. The storyline isn’t massively complicated, it still has a lot of twists and turns and it was intriguing to see what a wronged wife was going to do in reaction to finding out her husband was cheating on her. I feel like this was done very well, as the emotions are realistic to how you would be feeling if you had found out too. Jenna does have this way of captioning every emotion and being very believable so that you as a viewer feels it too. In all of her roles she is very good at doing this, like her role in “The Cry” and many more. I love how they gave flashbacks and backgrounds to the characters too, it added depth to the storyline. I really enjoyed this mini series and I definitely would watch it all over again.
5. All The Light We Cannot See

(Image taken from the Hollywood Reporter)
Well, where do I start with this? I absolutely loved watching this series, I only wish it was longer, but I know it’s based on a book. The story follows a blind French teenager, Marie-Laure and a German soldier, Werner, as they both try to survive the devastation of World War two. Whoever picked the cast for this did an amazing job! I think it was a great decision to cast a blind actress to play the role of the blind girl, rather than someone who can see, play the role. It makes you realise a little, what it is like to be blind. The ending, I was in two minds about. I think we all kind of hope for a happy ending, but this ending was realistic, and I think I loved that approach more as it felt more close to real life. It actually nearly made me cry. Visually, it is truly stunning, I really don’t know how they did some of the things they did, but it looked as realistic as it could be. There is a lot to take away from this series, but one of my favourite lines is “Darkness lasts not even for one second when you turn on the light”. You can watch All The Light We Cannot See on Netflix, it’s one not to be missed.
6. Selling Sunset Season 7

(Image taken from Netflix)
It’s hard to write about Selling Sunset without giving too much away but I think this has genuinely been the best series yet. It is packed FULL of drama between many of the agents as well I may add, and stunning luxury homes that are on offer. (Am I the only one that watches it to nosey at the homes too?) Not to mention the amazing outfits worn and some slightly questionable too, but I love how they all have their own style. What I liked about this season is we seem to learn more about each individuals personal lives, which unfortunately does make us learn some heartbreaking issues along the way. Although there is a few sad moments, there is also many hilarious moments as well, that will have you laugh out loud. It was also great to see some of the Selling The OC group as well involved at points. I also really like Jason and Chrishell’s relationship, despite everything that has gone on, neither treat each other any differently and its refreshing to see. With a bigger office been built, it will be interesting to see how other relationships progress or not progress. Let’s hope there is season 8! I’m looking forward to the reunion episode!
So this is what I’ve been watching recently. I usually watch a lot of documentaries and some films, however none that have been worth mentioning that I’d recommend. Have you watched anything off my list? If you have anything you recommend watching, leave a comment down below, I’d love to hear!
Amy x
