Happy very Belated New Year Everyone! I hope 2026 is everything you want it to be. I just wanted to say a big welcome to everyone new here as I have noticed some newer viewers! I hope you stay and get something out of reading my blog. Towards the end of the year and the beginning of the new year a lot of us start thinking about our goals for the next. If you don’t want to set goals, there’s nothing wrong with that. It can feel like extra pressure to perform sometimes. However, I very much like having goals to work towards too. For me it helps me feel focused and proud when I see progress. I saw bingo cards doing the rounds on TikTok. I fell in love with the idea and thought I would have a go at making one. It was a very fun process! It’s not too late to make one at all. It’s taken me a while to get going this year. I am confident this won’t put me behind in achieving my goals. I don’t expect to complete the whole card, as 25 goals is a lot! If I can get a row crossed off, that would be an achievement for me and a sense of accomplishment. So let’s see what I’ve got on there!
Health
It’s no surprise that a lot of us have health goals. We want to create habits that stick and improve our overall well-being. Let’s get the boring one out of the way first, I have a goal to lose weight. I feel this is probably the most picked goal every year. I worked towards this goal last year and want to continue to work towards this goal. I’m feeling determined and have bought a diary to help with meal planning and exercise. Which leads to another goal on my card and that is to get back on the treadmill. I’m going to charge my watch and create playlists that will keep going. I’ve decided to reflect on why I give up with goals. I will consider what I can do to prevent that from happening. Having multiple playlists rather than using the same one, is really going to benefit me. I also want to drink more water as I am really bad at this. It’s not an issue with water itself but more that I forget to drink. This can boost skin health. It can also prevent headaches and dehydration. Drinking enough can also be the cause of hunger sometimes. I’m looking forward to seeing what positives come from this.
Blogging
I was blogging a lot more at the beginning of last year. However, due to various reasons, I shut myself off from everything. I gave up on things that I enjoyed and writing for my blog was one of them. I really would love to get back into it again. It provides comfort to me and I enjoy talking about things that I’m passionate about. I’m looking forward to seeing what this year brings. I have a lot of ideas for posts that I want to create, so I’m hoping you guys love them too. I posted 31 times last year. I aim to beat that this year with good quality content. I’m sticking with talking about a variety of different things rather than just one subject. I don’t focus on numbers, and I blog for enjoyment. However, numbers show me that people are enjoying reading my blog. That’s why I am aiming to have 1,500 followers by the end of the year. With email subscribers and WordPress followers, I currently have 1,178 so it is doable. I’m not going to let it consume me. However, it would be nice to have a growing community. This is especially because people say blogging is dead and I couldn’t disagree more.
Holidays
We all love a holiday don’t we? The last few years, I’ve been fortunate enough to have visited Center Parcs annually. However, I’m unsure if that will happen this year. We probably all need a break from it. Ideally UK holiday wise, I would love to return to maybe the Devon/Cornwall area or perhaps somewhere new in Scotland. Both are beautiful places to visit. I also have an abroad holiday on my card. I have been to Ireland to see how I would do on a plane, and I loved it. It was only an hour, however I found it quite therapeutic. Greece has always been a place on my radar to visit or perhaps somewhere in Italy. I’m not into sitting around and doing nothing, I would like to go somewhere to explore the history and culture. Suggestions are welcome! Lastly, and this is a big dream of mine, but I would love to go to see a F1 race. Not this year, as I’m being realistic, but would definitely love to get one booked in for the following year. It would be an unforgettable experience and just something I would like to experience once in my life if possible. I don’t think this is all probably financially possible but we will see how things go!
Learn A New Skill
I love learning new things. I have picked 3 things I want to learn or get better at. I don’t expect to achieve all of these this year but I would be happy with one being met. The one I want to prioritise the most is to learn a new language. It will be between French and German. I’m leaning more towards French. I learnt a bit of French at school, and it has stuck with me since. I feel like I would be able to grasp this language better. I want to also get better at cooking and not be so lazy but also try out some new dishes. I would really love to batch cook on weekends. This way, I can have fresh meals throughout the week and it would make my life easier. I don’t enjoy cooking. I get frustrated when things don’t turn out like the pictures. Haha, so we’ll see how long this goal lasts! Lastly, I would like to have a go at growing my own fruit/vegetables. Last year, I did really well at growing strawberries. However, once I brought them outside, I got some tiny ones. They never got bigger and the plant just died. Hopefully they’ll be something I can complete the whole process of this year.
Money
I feel like it’s good too have a money goal or 2. My first goal is to give more to charity. Last year, I gave to a children’s hospice. I also contributed to some Go Fund Me pages. However, I would have liked to do more. I have a list of charities that I’d like to donate to. I usually choose those that have Amazon Wishlists. This way, I can see what the charity needs. I also try to pick smaller, less well-known charities. They rely on people to donate. I’m hoping that I will be able to do this more this year. Secondly, this might sound quite strange after talking about giving but I also want to save some money. I am fairly good at this anyways but I’m not very good at spending my money on me. I spend it on others. Actually, I could be saving some of this for my own dreams and goals. These are things I usually just put to one side. Mainly because I want to see everyone else happy around me and they deserve nice things too. Hopefully that doesn’t sound too selfish or like I’m bragging. I think saving £3000 this year would be amazing. It might be too high of a goal. We’ll see what happens!
So that’s the first part of my goals. I decided to do this in two parts otherwise this post would be quite long! I thought it would be quite good to split things up into categories. I will try and achieve at least one from each. If I achieve more then great! Honestly though it’s just about having fun with them. I think it’s always important to have some kind of health goal for mental well-being. I also think it’s important to prioritise yourself. I realised I haven’t done much of this for many years. It’s time to start doing more things for me. I want to live my life and not just exist and have regrets when I’m older. That’s why you should include things you want to make more time for. There’s more of that to come in the second part to this post. If you’re someone who feels overwhelmed by having goals or resolutions then leave it. Nothing is worth doing if it costs you your peace and you have to do what works best for you. I don’t expect to achieve all of these. 25 is a lot of goals to achieve. As someone who loves to have things to work towards, this will definitely help me to keep focused.
Have you chosen to set goals this year? If you have, what are they? If you haven’t, what are you most looking forward to this year?
