I might be a bit late on this, however it is halloween next week and I though I would give those of you who get involved with Halloween a bit of inspiration. However to start of with I thought I’d share with you some halloween facts..
- The first Jack O’Lanterns were made from turnips
- Samhainophobia is a fear of Halloween
- Dressing up as ghosts and other things like witches, originated from the ancient Celtic tradition. This was where townspeople disguised themselves as demon and spirits, so they could escape the real spirits wondering about on the streets
- Orange and black are the colours that symbolise halloween because, orange is a symbol of strength and endurance, and harvest, whereas black is a symbol of death and darkness and also that Halloween was once a festival that marked the boundaries, between life and death
- The largest pumpkin to have ever been measured, was by Norm Craven, in 1993, who broke the record with a 836lb pumpkin.
