This is something my boyfriend and I have been wanting to see for a while now, and because we hadn’t been to the cinema lately, and had a night we weren’t doing anything we decided to view it. This is a film that has continually been given five star ratings, so I was interested to see if it lived up to expectations.
The Revenant is based on an attack that happened in a fur trappers bivouac, across a river, in American wilderness. Hugh Glass, (Leonardo DiCaprio) his son, and remaining companions are going back to the nearest outpost. Glass ends up in a near fatal bear attack, which leaves some members of the groups as his caretakers. One of the caretakers however, chooses to betray Glass and makes a few unforgivable decisions.
All actors in this film are incredible and made you feel part of the experience, and made it really realistic. DiCaprio created an intense performance, and at times made your heart racing, which left you on the edge of your seat. The action that was in the film was brilliant and the bear attack, looked so believable and was done really well. The story may of been simple, but this made it easy to follow and focuses more on the characters, which engages you.
What I didn’t like about the film was how long it was! Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind a lengthy film, but to be watching one, where in parts nothing was going on, and it was just being dragged out, made me drift off a bit. I just felt it really didn’t have to be that long. I also felt that there was going to be more action than there was, but the action that was in there, was really good.
My Film Rating: 8/10
