I wanted to talk to you about a new snack I’ve recently tried. Love Chin Chin is a West African sweet sensation that crunches like a biscuit but tastes like a cake. I really love the story that’s behind this snack so I can’t not share it with you. “Chin Chin was there at family occasions, when the celebration was over, we’d wait until next time round for our Chin Chin fix. We tried desperately to manufacture occasions. “I just won second place in the cross country race mum” but she wasn’t having any of it. That sort of thing does not wash well with Nigerian mums. “When you win first place, we shall celebrate” she replied.” Friends started being introduced to the product, and soon the word was spread.
I just love the whole story behind it and when you love something you try anything to make it happen again, so when I read “mum I got second place in cross country” this really made me chuckle, as this would be the sort of thing I would say, if it meant I had a slight chance of getting something that tastes yummy again!
Love Chin Chin gets its name from the fact that it’s so delicious, it makes your chin move up and down. They come in 4 different flavours them being; lemon, chilli, vanilla and cinnamon. My favourite has probably got to be the chilli ones, I like the after taste which has a bit of a kick to it. I love the packaging which these tasty snacks come in. It’s so colourful and bright, it really bring attention to the eyes and stands out from quite a distance. Inside is an over generous amount, none of this open a bag of crisps and get half a bag of air, Love Chin Chin pleases very well. I also love the size, you can take these anywhere and are a perfect fit for most sized handbags.
It takes a bit of time to get use to the texture as it literally crunches like a biscuit, and tastes like a cake. My boyfriend says they remind him of shortbread. The four flavours are strong but not in a bad way, but in a way where the flavour explodes in your mouth, leaving a real taste of deliciousness. They are even suitable for vegetarians! Not only can these be eaten just the way they are, but they can be heated in the microwave, used as a dessert topping or the vanilla ones would be perfect for a cheesecake base, there are plenty of options.
We will definitely be seeing these a lot more in the future, and I can see these being very popular. You can get your hands on these in some Tesco and Asda stores, or you can get them from their website where I’ve left a link down below.
Have you tried Love Chin Chin yet? What is your favourite flavour?
