This is going to be an amazing year for films, from what I’ve seen and I can tell theres going to be endless trips to the cinema. I thought I’d just do the must watch films for January and February at the moment, as you’re not going to remember what’s coming out in September if I tell you now. Other films you can expect to see in January and February that I’ve not included are, A Cure For Wellness, The Lego Batman Movie and Trainspotting. I hope you enjoy and don’t forget to look out for a post the end of February, for must watch films in March and April.
January
The Bye Bye Man -January 13th
Three college students move into an old house off campus. They unwittingly release a supernatural entity known as The Bye Bye Man. The Bye Bye man makes all of them his victims, now that he is known. This leads them having to protect each other from The Bye Bye Man, but also protecting other people from discovering, otherwise they will find themselves as victims of The Bye Bye Man’s unspeakable acts. Don’t say it, don’t think it, don’t say it, don’t think it.
Split – January 20th
Three girls are kidnapped by a man with 23 different split personalities, who locks them in a windowless room. Some of his different personalities being a nine year old boy, someone obsessed with cleanliness and presenting a female. To escape from him, they need to work out his different personalities, while staying alive from some of the others, especially before the arrival of the final 24th one, the beast, who his psychiatrist doesn’t know about yet.
Sing – January 27th
In a rescue to save a once grand theatre that has fallen on hard times, Buster, a dapper koala who loves his theatre, does all his best to help preserve it. Set in a world like ours, but entirely inhabited by animals, Buster decides to hold a singing competition. A variety of animals arrive to take part in the competition, a mouse, a stage frightened elephant, a gangsta gorilla, a pig and a punk rock porcupine. All of them hopeful that they will be given a shot, to change their lives.
February
Rings – February 3rd
In the next chapter of The Ring set 13 years later after the first chapter, Julia is worried about her boyfriend when she finds out he has 7 days left to live before he is killed, after watching the dark, urban, legend of the mysterious video tape. In a desperate plea to save her boyfriend, she sacrifices herself, making a horrifying discovery, where this next chapter takes an unexpected turn. There is a movie within a movie, that no one has seen before.
John Wick: Chapter 2 – February 10th
Following the success of the first John Wick, back in 2014, John Wick is back with chapter 2! It will be taking place 4 days after the first film, which is why in the trailer you will see the hotel concierge Charon, say to John “how good to see you again so soon.” John Wick is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of an international assassin’s guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John Wick travels to Rome, where he squares off against some of the worlds deadliest killers. Oh and did I mention he is back with a new dog..
Fifty Shades Darker – February 10th
Christian is back wounded, trying to entice Ana Steele back into his life. The only way she will go back though, is under a set of new rules made by her. Just as Ana begins to build her relationship and trust with Christian, a few figures from Christian’s past show up, which could destroy their hopes for a future together. Not to mention Ana’s new boss takes an interest in her. Can Christian contain his jealousy? Can their complicated relationship really work?
