I have been meaning to do this for a few weeks now. I went to my second murder mystery last month and I had such a good night. This took place at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Grantham. The only thing I would change was that I had been doing a lot over time that weekend so Friday evening when the event took place, I was shattered but I still enjoyed it.
The murder mystery itself was so much fun and entertaining. This is the second one I’ve been to, and it’s just something different for a change. It would be a great present for someone. What happens is you have a three course meal and throughout that meal the drama happens, different characters will come round and talk to you and if you like you can ask them questions, then eventually a murder will happen. The detective or detectives will post evidence up at different times and then you have to try and work it out. At the end you get given a sheet to fill your answers in and the person who is closest to getting it right, wins a prize. Then the people who play the characters come and mingle with you and just have a chat really. Very fun. I love them and this company was brilliant. I love that your sat on tables of 10 and that you can mix with new people on your table.
The food was delicious. I had a gorgeous creamy vegetable soup, as my starter. I also had a buttery soft white bread roll. For main I had a lovely piece of chicken breast in read wine sauce, which you couldn’t really taste, which is good because I’m not a fan of wine. It was so good. This was served with a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, mash and vegetables. I didn’t get a picture of this as I got distracted by what was going on. Then dessert I had banofee pie. This was gorgeous! While eating all this beautifully prepared food, I sipped on archers and lemonade the whole night. In the morning I tucked into the best breakfast to date. This was a buffet of toast, fruit, cereals, yoghurts, croissants, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, sausages, mushrooms and hash browns. With unlimited amounts of teas, coffees and fruit juices. It was delicious! Best breakfast ever! It’s going to be a tough one to beat!
The staff were really polite and have a speedy check in. You didn’t have to ask for directions to your room they automatically gave out directions for you to follow. They were also polite and friendly and if you needed any help then they got to you straight away. In fact even our three course meal was served pretty quickly considering there was about 125 of us there. Again the waiters and waitresses were polite, well mannered and really friendly. It’s always nice as well when your checking out of a hotel that you get told to “enjoy the rest of your day”. I couldn’t fault the service.
There was lots of facilities at this hotel, one being the free use of the pool. I am absolutely gutted that I missed out on this, because I totally forgot they had one and didn’t bring swimwear. They also have a really nice quiet library, that is exactly like a library as it’s not been put next to any noisy rooms. In the room we had a hair dryer. We also had a wardrobe, our own bathroom with a shower but no bath, so I don’t know if all the rooms just have a shower but if they do then if that’s not convenient for you, then this may not be for you. Rooms were also equipped with cups, plastic cups, soap, shower gel, shower cap, teas, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, milk and sugar. I thought I took a picture of this but when I looked back through my photos, I obviously hadn’t. I would definitely stay here again and use the pool, they also have a small spa there too. All this for two people was £90! I’m already trying to plan our next stay!
Who else has gone to a murder mystery?
