Last Saturday I had a day out with my boyfriend, and we went to go and watch Sing. As it’s the school holidays now, you may be thinking about what you are going to do with the kids, or where to go with your friends, or like me, someone who just loves films, and doesn’t care if it’s meant for kids, I’m going to see a kids film anyways, I suggest you do go and see Sing! This films is one for everyone to go and watch. Carry on reading as to why…
In a rescue to save a once grand theatre that has fallen on hard times, Buster, a dapper koala who loves his theatre, does all his best to help preserve it. Set in a world like ours, but entirely inhabited by animals, Buster decides to hold a singing competition. A variety of animals arrive to take part in the competition, a mouse, a stage frightened elephant, a gangsta gorilla, a pig and a punk rock porcupine. All of them hopeful that they will be given a shot, to change their lives.
What I liked about this film is the story line. For a children’s film I thought the story wasn’t obvious, but still easy to follow and put across a good message, that being “don’t let fear stop you from chasing your dreams” and I think that’s really important for children to hear. I also thought there was some good adult humour in there, as well as children’s, which makes this very likeable.
What I disliked about the film was I would I’d like to have seen more auditions for the singing contest, that did feel a little rushed. I also thought that there was quite a lot of full songs there, (you’ll know when you watch it) I think they could of definitely shortened some of them, because I can imagine some children getting a little bored.
My Film Rating: 9/10
