I can remember the first John Wick film I watched, that I was invited to watch with friends. I can remember really not being that interested in it, and thinking that it wasn’t going to be that good at all. I really didn’t have high hopes for it. Coming out of the cinema at the end was another story. I loved it, and it ended up being one of the best films that year that I had seen. Fast forward to now and I was honestly so excited for this film to come out, I even booked the tickets in advance. Sometimes though the more films made, the more they start disappointing, and going past their sell by date, here is my honest opinion..
In the third installment of the action packed franchise, assassin John Wick makes a return again, however this time, with a $14 million price tag on his head. To make things harder for him though, he isn’t allowed any help from any kind of services whatsoever. With this disadvantage and the large figure up for grabs, he has the worlds most ruthless hit men and women, awaiting his every move.
It was nice to see some familiar faces return again like Charon and Winston. However Keanu Reeves really does make these films. You can tell how much effort and time he puts into playing John Wick, because it really shows in the character he portrays with his acting.
I really liked the plot for this, I actually think its the best one out of all three films. It seemed really well thought out and a lot more interesting, John Wick Chapter 2’s plot would of have to have been my least favourite. John Wick films are some of the best action films I have ever seen, if not the best, but this one takes it to a whole new level, with the action being exceptionally highly executed.
There wasn’t really much that I didn’t like about the film. The ending was shocking, and there was many twists within that. Although I get they were setting it up for the next chapter, which I must admit I was worried about, because I didn’t want the films to start going downhill, but I truly feel the only way is up with these films now, especially visually, but the ending did feel a little rushed to me. So much happened in the space of 5 minutes, and without giving anything away, your lead to believe one thing, to then find out a few minutes later, that thinking that is wrong. You then think the film is going to carry on but it just abruptly ends. That being said, it just adds to the excitement and pain of having to wait a very long time until the next one is released in cinemas.
Like I said, this one in my opinion is the best one in the trilogy, but if your not into heavy brutal violence, then this isn’t for you.
My Film Rating: 9.5/10
