My Listening Ear Week 11

p029sr8d

Hey everyone! So it’s actually been a while since my last post, I’ve not meant for it to be that long. I’m sure there are a lot of us at the moment feeling a bit up and down. I don’t actually know what’s worse, the being in fully lockdown or this stage we are in at the moment, where it’s like we have quite a lot of freedom, but at the same time it’s still not normal. We all want to know the same answer, how long is this going to go on for? No one knows. We are all trying to adapt to this new kind of normal, and it makes you think, are things actually going to get back to how we recognise as the normal? Is this what it’s going to be like from now on? It seems like one step forward and two steps back at the moment.

Like I said I know I’m not the only person feeling this way, and as well as people around me, music has also played a big part in helping as always. One thing I have learnt recently that someone actually spoke to me about and it makes so much sense is, the ones who help your mind, build you up, surround yourself more with their company. Those who have a negative impact on your mind and drag you down, as harsh as it sounds, distance yourself from them. I’ve only been doing this for a week and its been hard distancing myself from some people as it’s not really me, but once you do, you don’t have to be horrible with it, you will begin to feel much better, like a weight has been lifted off, and its amazing how quickly it makes a difference to your headspace. We need to looks after ourselves, our hearts are important, but our minds is just important.

Here is some really beautiful music I’ve discovered recently, I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I have. I hope you are all doing as well as you can, and looking after yourselves.

John K – If We Never Met

I heard this a few weeks ago and was undecided, but now I really like it and it keeps getting stuck in my head as its super catchy. Favourite lyrics is “I love it when the only light is me, you, and the moon” I like that. The lyrics are actually really cute I always seem to take too long finding songs like this, because its almost a year old already but never the less I’m glad I found it.

BRDGS – Let Eachother Go

This song gave me mega goose bumps and not going to lie, it made me feel a little emotional. It really reaches out to my heart and I just remember laying down and thinking whilst it played in the background. Is that weird? I’m not sure. It got me thinking how many of us love that feeling of falling in love, but when it goes wrong its one of the worst feelings in the world, because you feel like your grieving. There will be a lot of us who are refusing to fall in love, because of the fear of getting hurt. Anyways other than my slightly negative thoughts haha, this song is beautiful and different and you should just go and give it a listen because its perfect, and is it me or does he sound a little like Ed Sheeran?

Lee Cole – I Don’t Wanna Wait

Anyone would think I’ve just been through a breakup haha with these song titles, but I absolutely love Lee Cole’s voice, its so pure. Most songs are about heartbreak and sex these days when you think about it actually, I don’t really get it. I could listen to his voice all day though, and I can’t wait for him to release more new music, because his songs actually melt my heart. This song is beautiful though, and if you listen to the lyrics as well, its very heartfelt. It just sounds like when he sings, he means every single word and I’m here for it.

Lewis Capaldi – Days Gone Quiet

Words can’t explain how much I love this guy and he is absolutely hilarious. It makes me laugh because his singing voice and his talking voice, its like how does this voice, produce that sound? His album is one of the only ones where I like every single track on it, and don’t skip any.

Lauv & LANY – Mean It

It’s so hard to tell who is singing on this track, but I think that’s a good thing as it blends really well and shows how well their voices go together. This is such a catchy song, and an easy listen. Lauv has quite quickly become a favourite artist of mine.

Kate Vogel – Reasons to Stay

This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Kate’s voice is stunning but the words to this song are even more so, if anyone is battling with thoughts in there head or no someone who is, I strongly recommend listening to this song. Its about someone who’s come up with reasons to stay in the world, and there’s more to stay then there is to leave. It puts everything into perspective and is a song I can connect with. Sometimes I wish I had found songs earlier in other points in my life, as I think they would of helped me get through tough times, if that makes sense? This is one of them.
