New Beginnings

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and have had a good start to the New Year whether you celebrated it or not, and if you haven’t had a good start, I hope things get better for you. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Last year was definitely a year of change for me. I decided that after 9 years (to the date as well, how crazy is that?!) I was going to leave my job and move on to a completely new career. As much as it was a hard decision, I knew it was time for a change, and I just needed to see what else was out there. My new career, is something I must admit I didn’t think I stood a chance in. My previous job was the only job I have ever had and so I’ve never experienced a proper interview. My interview went ok, but you could definitely tell I was nervous and it’s one of those things where your mind just goes blank and then after the interview ended, all the things I should have said came back to me. However, I was then called back for a casual chat, and that went a lot better, and I was offered the job! Can I just say, my interviews were done on Teams, and I don’t know if that’s worse, than doing an interview in person. So far, I am really enjoying my new job, and it’s definitely a career that’s suited to me. I’ve always wanted a career where I can help people, and this definitely fits that.

Where a job change probably doesn’t sound like a big deal to some people, it is and was a big deal for me. Reason being, is I am not a massive fan of change as change is scary right? It can be hard to break the mold at times, but I feel like you have to move out of your comfort zone, some of the best things come from doing that. For things to change as well, you have to do the work, you can’t expect things to change for you doing the same daily routine, and not doing anything different, and I don’t just mean a change in job, any kind of change requires for you to do things differently and put in the effort, but the reward is bigger. I hope that makes sense. Most change is for the good or for the better, even if you don’t know it yet, you just have to take the first step and not dwell on it. One thing is for sure though, without getting too deep, life is short, and we only get one shot at it, so make the most of it. It’s taken me way too long to have this attitude, but I don’t want to waste any more time and instead start doing some things that are new to me and that I would usually say no too.

So, whilst I am on the subject of changing jobs, this now means I have a bit more time than what I did have, as I am now doing less hours than what I was doing. This means I can now get back into things I enjoyed doing that I didn’t have time for, which makes me very happy as it now means I can start blogging again. I have missed blogging so much as I love talking about things, I am passionate about, and I love engaging with different people. Let this be a reminder though to not let your career take over your life and stop you doing the things you enjoyed. I’m not sure how often I’ll be posting, I am going to aim for once a week for now, I don’t want to put too much pressure on it. Ideally, I would like to post more and have a schedule but for now I am just going to ease my way back in, but it feels good to be back!

Contents wise, I am going to be bring the music blogs back, I’ll be honest, I never expected My Listening Ear to take off as well as it did, but it makes me happy that it did, as music is a big part of my life. Expect more deep posts on my thoughts on life, baking posts and maybe a little bit of cooking. I’m not the best cook, but one of my New Year’s resolutions is to properly learn how to cook from scratch so expect some disasters! I also want to go and experience new things and places, so expect a little travel in there as well, and maybe some restaurant reviews. Is there anything you would like to see though? I am always open to new suggestions and enjoy hearing your thoughts.

I hope this year is a good one for you all. I hope you achieve your goals. I am going to set myself New Year’s resolutions but loosely. If you are doing the same, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Rather than set myself targets to hit, because let’s be honest the one of the biggest chosen resolutions is to lose weight, I’m going to say this year I am going to eat better and up my exercise, and not put too much pressure on how much I want to lose, as I start getting too fixated on things, which is not good mentally. I won’t say any further goals as I may save this for another post, but I just wanted to say I know some people say you can start your goals at any time why wait until new year. It is true, you can start at any time, however for me I find a new year incredibly motivating. Anyways let me know your goals down below if you have any, and also let me know if there’s anything different, you’d like to see on the blog. I hope you are all having a good week.

See you all in the next post.
